WICHITA, Kan. -- Henry Carr scored all of his 12 points in the second half Tuesday night to help rally Wichita State to a 54-49 victory over No. 18 Kansas, the Jayhawks' third loss in their last four games.

Carr, the Shockers' center, scored 2 3-point plays that secured 6-point leads and helped Wichita State improve to 9-4.

Carr also sank 3 of 4 free throws in the final 43 seconds, sealing the outcome by providing a 52-43 lead.

The Jayhawks, playing their first game at Wichita since 1955, trailed 46-43 with 1:43 left, but missed a chance to tie the score when Kevin Pritchard shot an air ball on a 3-point attempt. Kansas fell to 7-4.

Dwight Praylow led the Shockers with 13 points. Danny Manning led Kansas with 12, followed by Cedric Hunter and Keith Harris with 11 each. Manning, who ended a six-minute Kansas scoring drought in the first half, sank a baseline shot with 15:28 left in the game, helping the Jayhawks rally from a 20-15 halftime deficit to a 25-24 lead.

The Shockers regained their advantage with an 8-2 run that pulled them ahead 32-27 with 12:24 remaining. Joe Griffin hit a 3-pointer, and Dwight Praylow contributed 3 points in the surge. The Shockers easily broke the Jayhawks' full-court press thereafter.
