Philadelphia 76ers General Manager Pat Williams will become the...

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia 76ers General Manager Pat Williams will become the head of an Orlando, Fla., group seeking an NBA franchise, the Philadelpha Inquirer reported in its Thursday editions.

The Inquirer, citing sources in Philadelphia and Orlando, said Williams had been offered a five-year contract to become president of Orlando Pro Basketball, Inc., made up of a group of investors headed by real esate developer Jim Hewitt.

Williams is expected to announce his decision Thursday.

The Inquirer said Williams would be replaced by John Nash, the Sixers assistant general manager and business manager.

Williams has been with the Sixers as GM since 1974. Before that, he was the Sixers business manager in 1968, and general manager of the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks.

Nash was named business manager and William's assistant in 1981.
