HOUSTON -- Services for Jack Gallagher, longtime Houston Post sports columnist, are scheduled Monday.
Gallagher died of cancer Thursday at the St. Anthony Center. He was 64.
A native of Texas, Gallagher was sports editor of the American-Statesmen in Austin, Texas, prior to joining the Post in 1949 as a columnist and covering the Southwest Conference and the Houston Oilers.
He was vice president of the Football Writers Association of America and was to be installed as president in June.
Services will be at 10 a.m. CST Monday at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church.
