HILLSBORO, Ohio -- Singer Johnny Paycheck, whose song 'Take This Job and Shove It' became an anthem for workers across the county, was arrested Friday for allegedly shooting a man in a tavern fight, police said.
Paycheck, 44, allegedly shot Larry Wise of Greenfield, Ohio, in the head with a small-caliber handgun Thursday night, said police officer Rick Hugh.
Wise was taken to Highland District Hospital where he was treated and released.
A warrant was issued for Paycheck, whose real name is Donald Lytle. He was arrested before dawn near Wilmington and returned to Hillsboro, where he was arraigned and released on $25,000 bond.
Paycheck, a country and western singer who was born in Greenfield, is believed to live in the Hillsboro area, Hugh said.
