Irishman Sean Kelly won the Tour of Lombardy cycle...

MILAN, Italy -- Irishman Sean Kelly won the Tour of Lombardy cycle race Saturday for the second time in three years, squeezing past Dutch challenger Adri Van Der Poel on the final curve in Milan's Vigorelli velodrome.

Kelly made his move as a 16-strong leading pack rode into the velodrome for the climax of the 255-kilometer race which began at Como.

The Irishman was clocked in six hours, 11 minutes, 17 seconds at a brisk average speed of 41.209 kph over a course which challenged riders with a series of stiff climbs over the final portion.

Van Der Poel was trailed by Frenchman Charly Mottet, winner two days ago of the Tour of Piedmont.
