ARMY 59, YALE 16

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Doug Black bulled for 122 yards and one touchdown Saturday and unbeaten Army scored on five straight second-half possessions in rolling to a 59-16 victory over Yale.

The Cadets' outburst represents the most points ever scoring against Yale and is the most by Army since a 68-6 triumph over Colgate in 1958.

The Cadets, 4-0, scored on their first two possessions. William Lampley capped a 73-yard drive with a 7-yard TD run to put Army ahead midway through the first period. Quarterback Ron Healy then crossed up the Eli by hitting Benny White with a 33-yard scoring pass on the first play of the second quarter.

Yale, 1-1, scored its only touchdown on its next possession when Kelly Ryan found Red Macauley with an 11-yard pass.

But the Cadets scored again in the final minute of the first halfd. Black keyed a 75-yard drive with a 29-yard scamper and then capped it by powering over from the 2.

On the first play after the ensuing kickoff, Reggie Fullwood intercepted a Ryne pass and that set up a school-record 53-yard field goal by Craig Stopa for a 24-6 halftime lead.

After John Duryea kicked a 27-yard field goal for Yale, the Cadets scored n their next five possessions. Backup quarterback Tory Crawford ran 4 yards for a TD following Black's 38-yard run, then hit Scott Spellmon with a 42-yard scoring strike.

Kevin McKelvy, Alan Edwards and Ed Cole all ran for Army touchdowns in the final quarter.
