BOISE, Idaho -- Two University of Montana football players who helped the Grizzlies break a 10-game losing streak share Big Sky Conference player of the week honors with Boise State defensive tackle Marcus Koch.

The Grizzlies honored for their weekend performances were tight end Paul Lamb and free safety Ted Ray, the league announced Monday.

Koch, a 270-pound senior, logged seven unassisted tackles in Boise State's 20-17 loss to Utah.

Lamb, a sophomore, was instrumental in Montana's upset win over Cal-State Fullerton. He grabbed six passes for 111 yards.

Ray, of Stevensville, Mont., was credited with eight tackles and two pass deflections -- and he returned a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown in Montana's 31-30 win.

Players nominated for the weekly award were BSU wide receiver Tony Hunter, Idaho tight end Scott Auker, Idaho State tailback Merrill Hoge, Idaho safety Mark Tidd and Idaho State strong safety Jamie Fitzgerald.

Also nominated on offense were Montana State running back David Pandt, Nevada-Reno quarterback Eric Beavers, Northern Arizona tackle Pat Meech and Weber State running back Freddie Cook.

Nominated on defense were Montana State linebacker Ken Lang, Nevada-Reno backer Mike Dixon, Northern Arizona linebacker Randy Cook and Weber State linebacker Mike Powell.
