PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Actress Margo Albert, wife of actor Eddie Albert, died in her sleep early Wednesday after an illness of several months. She was 68.
Albert, who starred in 'Lost Horizon' and repeated her role in 'Winterset,' died in her home, publicist Rupert Allan said.
She married Eddie Albert in 1945 before the actor was sent overseas as a naval officer. In 1954, the couple performed in top night clubs coast-to-coast and recorded an album, 'Eddie Albert and Margo.'
In recent years, Albert has been a member of the board of the National Council of the National Endowment of the Arts and the Steering Committee for the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities.
In addition to her husband, Albert is survived by a daughter, son and two grandchildren.
Private services were to be held Thursday. A memorial open to the public will be held Sunday.
