BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Police are searching for a Munich businessman who failed to return home two months ago from a real estate investment trip to California.
Lt. Bill Hunt said Helmut Ernst Altmann, 31, an Austrian national who owns a meat packing company in West Germany, was last seen Oct. 30, four days after he checked into the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

The man's wife called Beverly Hills police when he failed to return home as scheduled Nov. 2. When officers went to the hotel, they found Altmann's clothes, passport, money and other belongings still in his room.
The only thing missing was Altmann's rented car.
