SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks retired jersey No. 12 Wednesday, even though no player has ever worn that number for the team.

Rather, the move was made to honor 'the fans of the Pacific Northwest' whose contribution as a '12th man' has been tremendous, Seahawks General Manager Mike McCormack said.

The jersey will be presented to the fan who came up with the idea, Randy Ford of Tukwila, Wash., in a ceremony just before the Seahawks' next home game in the Kingdome on Saturday, Dec. 15, against the Denver Broncos.
