Moncrief had 7 and Craig Hodges, who finished with 18, added 4 during the spurt. Bill Lambeer led Detroit with 20 points and Isiah Thomas added 18.

Cummings scored 12 points and Pressey added another 10 to lead a Milwaukee charge that offset 10 points by Detroit's Don Roundfield to give the Bucks a 77-77 tie at the start of the fourth.

The Bucks tied a team record set last season with their ninth consecutive home victory.

Bob Lanier, the former Buck center, was honored during halftime ceremonies. His jersey number 16 became the fourth to be retired by the club.

The Bucks were without Coach Don Nelson, Mike Dunleavy and Charles Davis, who all suffered neck and back injuries Saturday night at a Baltimore airport.
