1. Stephen Smith Jr., born June 28, 1957, student at Columbia Law School. In past year he spent time in refugee camps in Bangkok, Thailand, helping with administrativve needs.

- Children of Peter Lawford and Patricia Kennedy:
1. Christopher Lawford, born March 29, 1955, graduated from Boston College Law School 1983; later flunked the Massachusetts bar exam. Arrested in Aspen, Colo., on charges of obtaining a narcotic prescription drug by fraud. The charges were later dropped.
2. Sydney Lawford, born Aug. 25, 1956, works for Jordan Marsh Department Stores in Massachusetts. Married James Peter McKelvy at Hyannis in September 1983 -- day after heroin charges filed against Robert Kennedy Jr.
3. Victoria Lawford, born Nov. 4, 1958, living in McLean, Va. Works for C-Span, a closed-cicuit television network.
4. Robin Lawford, born July 2, 1967, college student.
-Children of John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis:
1. Caroline Bouvier Kennedy, born Nov. 27, 1957, working on public television production about American art at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. Caroline Kennedy asks companions not to introduce her by her full name, but she also has told friends she couldn't have met rock stars and royalty without it.
2. John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr., born Nov. 27, 1960, graduated from Brown University June 6, 1983. In the summer of 1983 worked on a salvage boat looking for treasure off Cape Cod. Future plans not certain, but some talk he may travel with one possibility being India. 'He may consider public service but he hasn't yet formulated his future plans,' a family acquaintance said.
-Children of Robert Francis Kennedy and Ethel Skakel:
1. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, born July 4, 1951, married David Townsend, two children, Meaghan, 4, and Maeve, 2. She was among 291 people to pass Massachusetts Bar in 1982. Family lives in Newton, Mass. She's a consultant for a state program to train police cadets. 'You have to do something to have a stake in your country,' she said.
2. Joseph Patrick Kenedy 2nd, born Sept. 24, 1952, owner of Citizens Energy Corp., Boston., married to Sheila Brewster Raunch, two children, twins Joseph P. 3d and Matthew Raunch, 2. The non-profit Corp. set up in 1979 obtains low cost heating oil for poor and senior citizens. In five winters helped provide low-cost heat for 250,000 families. He says: 'The challenge of being on this earth is to make it a fairer place. There's a moral commitment.'
In 1973 was fined for negligent driving in a jeep accident in which a female companion was paralyzed for life.
3. Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., born Jan. 17, 1954, married to Emily Ruth Black. He graduated from the University of Virginia Law School and was one of 53 young lawyers sworn in Aug. 23, 1982, as assistant district attorneys for the New York City borough of Manhattan. Emily, who passed bar July 1982, is Legal Aid Society lawyer. He, however, did not pass the bar exam and resigned from his assistant district attorney's position in July saying he needed a rest.
On September 16, 1983 he was charged with heroin possession in Rapid City, S.D., a few days after he fell sick in an airplane there. He issued a statement he had entered a drug treatment program. He said he admitted himself because, 'with the best medical help I can find, I am determined to beat this problem.'
A friend, Bill Walsh of Deadwood, S.D., told reporters, 'He knew he had to get the monkey off his back,' a phrase associated with heroin addiction.
Young Kennedy received a suspended sentence and two years probation on March 16, 1984.
He was put on a years probation at the age of 16 for marijuana possession.
4. David Anthony Kennedy, born June 15, 1955, has an internship at the Atlantic Monthly. In 1979 he made headlines when he was robbed at a Harlem hotel known to be frequented by heroin users. He later entered a drug rehabilitation program.
Found dead in Palm Beach, Fla., hotel room, April 25, 1984.
5. Mary Courtney Kennedy, Born Sept. 9, 1956, married Jeffrey Ruhe, and has worked at the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation, Head-start programs and a number of volunteer jobs.
6. Michael LeMoyne Kennedy, born Feb. 27, 1958, student at University of Virginia Law School, married to Victoria Gifford, daughter of television sports announcer Frank Gifford. Son -- Michael Kennedy Jr. - bornJan. 9, 1983. Michael spent summer of 1983 clerking at a Washington law firm.
7. Mary Kerry Kennedy, born Sept. 8, 1959, graduated from Brown University and worked for a photo agency.
8. Christopher George Kennedy, born July 4, 1963, student at Boston College.
9. Matthew Maxwell Taylor Kennedy, born Jan. 11, 1965, student at Georgetown University.
10. Douglas Harriman Kennedy, born March 24, 1967, student at Georgetown Prep.
11. Rory Elizabeth Kennedy, born Dec. 12, 1968, high school student at Potomac School. Born after her father's assassination.
