YOKOHAMA, Japan -- The Baltimore Orioles scored four runs in the ninth inning Wednesday for a 7-5 exhibition victory over the Japan champion Hiroshima Toyo Carp.

The Orioles lead the five-game series 3-1. The fifth game is Thursday in Osaka, western Japan.

Trailing 5-3 with two out in the ninth, the Orioles opened a four-hit assault in the ninth. Jim Traber singled in a run to make it 5-4 and pinch-hitter Ken Singleton doubled in the tying run. Lenn Sakata then singled in two runs.

The Orioles pounded out 14 hits. Hiroyuki Saito of Japan had three hits, including a two-run homer.

Nate Snell was credited with the victory.
