POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Matthew Furjanic was named basketball coach at Marist College Wednesday.

Furjanic had been coach of Robert Morris for five years.

He led the Pennsylvania school from the ECAC Metro Conference to the NCAA Tournament in 1982 and 1983.

Furjanic replaces Mike Perry, who resigned under pressure two weeks ago after Marist charged him with violating NCAA rules. No specific allegations were released.

Furjanic was signed to a multi-year contract.
