SAN DIEGO -- Craig Logan, a 26-year-old accountant who moved from Aurora, Ill., to San Diego in 1981, is a transplanted Cubs fan.

His loyalty to the Cubs notwithstanding, he stands to make a good sum of money with his copyright 'Cub-busters' T-shirts.

An estimated 25,000 shirts have been sold for $10 each in San Diego, a city whose Padres are facing the Cubs for the National League pennant.

The design shows a cub with the circle and crossbar, such as found on 'No Smoking' signs.

Logan said he came up with the design after hearing the 'Ghostbusters' theme song at a Padres-Mets game in August.

Padre fans had to stand in line a half-hour to buy the item at the Padre gift shop in San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium. Each buyer was limited to four.

'I'm still a Cub fan,' Logan said. 'That's what makes it very controversial. If the Cubs win, it'll make me happy, but I'll make money anyway.'

He said he took a drawing of his design to the Padres' front office and team officials instantly liked it. Artists at Koala Arts, the printer, refined it. The item went on sale Sept. 21 and sales took off Monday.

Logan expects to be in Chicago if the Cubs get past the Padres and into the World Series.

'I have some connections to get tickets,' he said. 'We'll see. Just to be in Chicago during this time has got to be pretty wild. The heart still lies in Chicago. I'd rather root for them.'
