MINNEAPOLIS -- Brian Kidd's second-half goal lifted the Minnesota Strikers to a 1-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rowdies Monday before a crowd of 56,621 -- the largest crowd to ever watch a soccer game in Minnesota.

The Strikers promoted the game with a Beach Boys concert that followed the contest at the Metrodome.

Goalkeeper Tino Lettieri posted his second consecutive shutout, improving the Strikers' record to 4-1.

Kidd scored at 82:15, assisted by Ray Hudson and Ken Fogarty. Hudson lofted a pass over the Tampa defense, and Kidd blasted a shot into the left corner of the net, beating goaltender Arnie Mausser.

Kidd, the team's leading goal scorer the last two years, scored another goal but it was disallowed on an offside call.

Lettieri recorded three saves, while Mausser stopped five shots.
