DALLAS -- The Dallas Cowboys traded disgruntled wide receiver Butch Johnson to the Houston Oilers for Mike Renfro, the club announced Friday.

The team's also swapped second-round picks, with the Oilers giving up the pick they received from Minnesota, in the upcoming NFL draft and the Cowboys received an undisclosed pick in the 1985 draft.

The switch means Dallas will pick 12th in the second round instead of 26th.

Johnson, a third-round selection in 1978 out of Cal-Riverside, was used primarily as a backup by the Cowboys. Still, he caught 132 passes for 2,124 yards and 219 touchdowns.

Recently, Johnson had expressed that he wanted to start or be traded, leading the Cowboys to look for a trade.

Renfro, who served as a ball boy for the Cowboys while his father was an assistant coach with the team, was a fourth-round selection by Houston following a career at Texas Christian. The wide receiver has caught 160 passes as a pro, for 2,183 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Ray Renfro, Mike's father, served as a Cowboys' assistant coach from 1968-72. He was also an All-Pro player while with the Cleveland Browns.
