Eddie Murphy leaves SNL

BOSTON -- Saturday Night Live star Eddie Murphy has left the show, said co-star Joe Piscopo in an interview Thursday.

'The Murph did his last show last week,' Piscopo said on WBZ-TV's Live on Four program.

'It's tough when you don't have one of your pals there.'

Rumors have been circulating for some time that 1984 was the comedian's final year on the show, but many fans did not think he would quit before the end of the current season.

Piscopo, who is appearing at a Boston club, hinted this might also be his last year on the TV program. 'For the most part it's fun, but working a 90-minute live show every week takes its toll on anybody. I probably won't be back,' he said.
