NEW YORK -- CBS was the No. 1 prime time network for the 11th time in the 14-week-old TV season, although ABC also had four programs in the Top 10 list.
The A.C. Nielsen prime time ratings for the week ending Jan. 1 gave CBS a 16.7 rating with a 27 percent share of the viewing audience, ABC a 15.9 rating with a 26 share and NBC a 14.8 rating with a 24 share.
The weekly prime time Nielsen ratings, usually made available on Tuesdays, were released two days late this week and the early evening news ratings still were not available Thursday.
The Top 10 shows for the week ending Jan. 1, according to the A.C. Nielsen Co.:
