WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Right wing Paul MacLean scored his second goal of the game 29 seconds into overtime Friday night to lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-3 come-from behind victory over the New York Islanders.

MacLean accepted a feed from Brian Mullen in the slot area and sent a wrist from 15 feet out through the legs of New York netminder Billy Smith.

It was only the second time this season the Islanders have lost a game after holding a lead entering the third period. The Jets have accomplished the feat both times.

Trailing 3-1 after Islander left winger Clark Gillies scored early in the final period, the Jets pulled even with a pair of breakaway goals before a crowd of 15,294 at Winnipeg Arena.

Center Dale Hawerchuk scored at the five-minute mark with a wrist shot high to the glove side of Smith, while MacLean followed up 1:49 later with another wrist shot to the top right corner.

Right winger Mike Bossy had scored twice to send the Islanders into the third period with a 2-1 edge. He evened the score at 1-1 at 18:28 of the first period, converting a 2-on-1 by pumping a wrist shot past Winnipeg goalie Doug Soetaert's glove side. Bossy put the Islanders ahead at 1:07 of the middle session with his 30th goal of the campaign, blasting a 25-foot wrist shot to the far side of Soetaert. New York center Bryan Trottier assisted on both of Bossy's goals.
