NEW YORK -- Sid Youngelman, 51, a teammate of 47-year-old Jimmy Brown when they played with the Cleveland Browns, urged the National Football League's greatest ground-gainer to forget about a comeback and consider joining his air freight business.
A defensive tackle on the 1959 Cleveland team and now president of Youngelman Air Freight Corp. in New York, Youngelman said in a telegram to Brown: 'Talk about it, but don't do it.
Despite the fact you might be in great shape, you'd be jeopardizing your life. You have nothing to prove. Everyone is aware you're the greatest ball carrier of all time.'
Youngelman, who captained the Alabama football team as a collegian and spent nine years in the NFL, said he played with Brown and against him.
'I'd much rather have him on my side,' said Youngelman. 'That's why I would like him to join my firm.'
