Elizabeth Taylor has dissolved her repertory company, which teamed her and Richard Burton in 'Private Lives' but bombed with the critics. She and producer Zev Bufman announced Tuesday that the end of the Los Angeles production of 'Lives' also marked the end of The Elizabeth Theater Group.
It also staged 'The Corn Is Green' with Cecily Tyson and was to have presented 'Inherit the Wind.' Bufman and Miss Taylor announced formation of the group with big plans after he produced 'The Little Foxes,' in which she made her successful Broadway debut.
Zev Bufman may not be producing Elizabeth Taylor now, but he has another veteran star to present in her Broadway debut. Bufman is a co-producer of Peggy Lee's musical memoir, 'Peg,' scheduled to open on Broadway Dec. 14. Miss Lee co-wrote the book. In it she will sing some of her golden oldies, some new songs she has written to Paul Horner's music, and a reputed show-stopper, 'Soul,' that she wrote with her creative consultant, Cy Coleman.
