SEATTLE -- Jack Sikma of the Seattle SuperSonics, one of the most eligible bachelors in Seattle, has decided to take the plunge and marry 23-year-old Mercer Island model Shawn Strikland.
Sikma, 27, proposed Wednesday and the two announced Friday that they will wed in the last week of July 1984.
The 5-7 Strickland was in the crowd Friday night to watch her 6-11 fiance lead the Sonics in scoring in a 110-109 opening night loss to Golden State. Both were unavailable for comment after the game.
'They're a couple of great people,' said Strickland's roommate, Carolyn Bunnell. 'It should be a great bash.'
The happy couple reportedly met three years ago at a game in New York. Strickland, a Williams Agency model, has cut her traveling time considerably since then to be with Sikma.
