MOSCOW -- Former President Richard Nixon canceled a reservation on the downed Korean Air Lines Flight 007 at the last moment and is an 'accomplice to the horrible crime', the official Soviet news agency Tass said Saturday.

A spokesman for Nixon was not immediately available for comment.

Quoting the West German magazine Quick, Tass said Nixon was to be in seat B-2 in the front row next to Congressman Larry McDonald but canceled at the last moment.

Tass further quoted Quick as saying Nixon worked in close contact with the Central Intelligence Agency in his time.

'Can it be that he revisited the good old days at that moment before the flight?' asked Tass.

This question demands an answer because 'in the public eye Richard Nixon in actual fact becomes an accomplice in a horrible crime,' Tass said.
