NEW YORK -- CBS remained the No. 1 network for prime time audiences in a photo finish, with ABC and NBC bunched up behind in second and third place respectively.
The Nielsen survey for the week ending Aug. 28 gave CBS a 13.1 rating with a 24 percent share of the viewing audience, followed by ABC with an 12.8 rating and a 23 share, and NBC with an 12.6 rating and also a 23 share.
Although CBS came out on top, NBC had four shows in the top 10 list, while CBS and NBC each had three.
'CBS Evening News' again was winner in the early evening news slot with an 11.5 rating and a 24 share. 'NBC Nightly News' was No. 2 with a 9.6 rating and a 21 share and ABC's 'World News Tonight' trailed with a 9.0 rating with a 19 share.
