HONOLULU -- A jeep carrying actor Tom Selleck, the star of the 'Magnum P.I.' television series, and his stepson may have been in the wrong gear when it crashed through a parking structure railing, plunged 20 feet and landed on a trailer, police said Monday.
The 38-year-old actor and Kevin Selleck, 15, suffered minor cuts and bruises in the Sunday morning accident.
Police said the teenager was driving when the accident occurred at a three-tier parking structure in Waikiki.
The Sellecks were taken to Straub hospital where they were treated and then released.
The accident occurred at the Outrigger Canoe club. A police spokesman said the jeep may have been in the wrong gear when it went through the railing and landed on a trailer for outrigger canoes. No one else was hurt.
The jeep was taken to a tow yard in Honolulu, where officials said it was a total loss.
Selleck Monday began filming for the new season of 'Magnum P.I.,' a spokeswoman for the actor said.
