LOS ANGELES -- Griffin O'Neal has decided not to pursue assault charges against his father, actor Ryan O'Neal, who allegedly knocked out two of his son's teeth in a fight, police said Wednesday.

The younger O'Neal told police he and his father got into an argument about playing racquetball and said the actor pushed him down the driveway and out the gate of their Bel-Air home.

When the 18-year-old youth came back, his father punched him several times, he told police. At that point he reportedly told his father, 'Hey dad, you're going to love this,' then spit a mouthfull of blood with the two teeth onto the kitchen floor.

The youth called police, who took a report on the incident May 24, but he later refused to press felony assault charges against his father.

O'Neal, 42, who played a boxer in the movie 'The Main Event,' is currently filming another movie and could not be reached for comment.

A spokeswoman for O'Neal's agent said he would have no comment on the incident. Asked if the actor had ever been involved in similar incidents, she said, 'I'd rather not comment on any of that.'
