PORTLAND, Ore. -- Jimmy Lynam, assistant coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, is reported to be one of the three finalists for the head coaching job of the San Diego Clippers.

Lynam said he did not know how many candidates remain in contention for the job but said he was assured he was 'still under consideration.'

He declined to confirm a report hehad met more than once with Paul Phipps, the general manager of the Clippers, about the post left open with the firing of Paul Silas.

It was reported in San Diego Wednesday that Lynam, Jack Ramsay's assistant for two years, was being considered with Bobby Weiss, an assistant coach of the Dallas Mavericks, and Rollie Massamino, coach of Villanova University.

'They started with a field of seven or eight,' Lynam said. 'I know they have narrowed it, but I'm not sure to what number.

'I was pleased with the way my interview went. It went well as far as my being able to let them know my basketball philosophy. And I felt good about the way they have structure their franchise and with what they are hoping to do.'
