AUSTIN, Texas -- Sylvester Kincheon, a 6-foot-10 center from Austin, today signed a basketball scholarship with the University of Mississippi, two days after verbally committing to the University of Houston.
The Travis High School star averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds a game as a senior.
Kincheon said he decided against Houston because he never got a chance to talk to Cougar head coach Guy Lewis, and he believes he will be able to play as a freshman at Ole Miss.
'The playing time and it being a better opportunity was the difference,' he said. 'If I went to Houston, I'd always be playing in somebody's shadow.'
Kincheon was also contacted by Baylor, New Mexico State and Southwestern Louisiana.
