FLORENCE, Ky. -- Cris Collinsworth of the Cincinnati Bengals is one of the fastest wide receivers in football, but he was no match for a bad race horse this weekend.

In a publicity stunt at Latonia Race Course, Collinsworth ran a 41-yard race against Mr. Hurry, a 7-year-old bay horse.

Mr. Hurry had won only two of 109 races against other horses in his career, but he certainly 'had the horses' to beat Collinsworth. Mr. Hurry won the race by an estimated nine lengths -- and those were horse lengths.

Both Collinsworth and Mr. Hurry came out of the gate fast, but Mr. Hurry quickly took the lead. Collinsworth, wearing running shorts and running shoes, ran as fast as he could, but was obviously beaten by the midpoint. Mr. Hurry was timed in 3.3 seconds.

'I thought I could nose him out,' laughed Collinsworth, who has a prominent nose. 'But I guess even my nose isn't that big.'

Betting was not permitted on the man vs. horse race, but a record season crowd of 7,310 was enthusiastic.
