Mark Konopacke, 19, of Iron Mountain, Mich., notched 239.5...

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- Mark Konopacke, 19, of Iron Mountain, Mich., notched 239.5 points on jumps of 83 and 86.5 meters Saturday to win the senior class of the 70-meter National Ski Jumping Championships at Silver Mine Hill.

John Broman of Duluth, Minn., placed second with 219.8 points on jumps of 78.5 and 79 meters.

Defending national champion Reed Zuehlke of Eau Claire was third with 218.2 points on jumps of 78 and 78.5 meters.

Forty-two skiers competed in the senior class.

Jeff Volmrich of Lake Placid, N.Y., won the junior class division with 208.1 points on jumps of 77.5 and 78 meters. John Benzie, a walk-on, won the Masters Class with 155.4 points on jumps of 60.5 and 65.5.

The 90-meter National Championships will be held next weekend at Westby, Wis.
