SEATTLE -- The Canadian maritime destroyer HMCS Yukon was involved in a minor collision Wednesday with a U.S. aircraft carrier off the coast of Washington, a U.S. Navy spokesman reported.

Master Chief Jim McDonough, a spokesman for the U.S. Navy in Seattle, said the destroyer collided with the carrier Kitty Hawk while the U.S. vessel was conducting routine training 20 miles northwest of Cape Flattery.

McDonough said no injuries were reported and damage was not significant enough to hinder operations. He added there was no hull contact and both ships were proceding to home port.

The Kitty Hawk is based at Bremerton Naval Shipyard, where it is undergoing renovation.

McDonough said the Canadian ship sustained some damage to its antenna and the Navy planned to investigate the incident.
