MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Holiday Inns Inc., which had part ownership of the Las Vegas-based River Boat Casino Inc., acquired the remaining 60 percent interest in the parent firm of the Holiday Casino in Las Vegas, officials announced Wednesday.
The interest was acquired from Claudine Williams, founder and principal shareholder of the firm, and other partners, for an undisclosed sum.
The transaction gives Holiday Inns complete ownership of the 31,000-square foot Holiday Casino and Nob Hill Casino, both adjacent to the Holiday Inn-Center Strip, the largest in the Holiday Inn system.
Holiday Inns purchased 40 percent interest in River Boat Casino in 1979.
Mrs. Williams will remain as chief executive officer under the new ownership.
The Memphis-based Holiday Inns is the world's largest gaming concern, through its Gaming Group and Harrah's hotels and casinos.
The firm also has the world's largest hotel system, with 311,000 rooms and other interest in the restaurant industry.
