PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. -- Goren Prpic and Sabina Goles, Yugoslavia's best junior tennis players, Sunday won the 18-year division singles titles in an international junior tournament.
The tournament is sponsored by Rolex.
Prpic, the seventh seed, took the boys title by beating fourth-seeded Ron Agenor of Haiti 6-2, 6-1.
Goles, seeded third in the girls event, beat 14-year-old Grace Kim of Ridgewood, N.J., 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, winning the last three games of the match, including two service breaks.
The Gurney sisters of Palos Verdes, Calif., made it a family affair by winning two of the eight singles titles.
Melissa Gurney, top-seeded in the girls 14-year group, defeated Kirsten Dreyer, Weston, Conn., 6-4, 6-2. Cinda Gurney, second seed in the girls 12-year division, upset top seed Mary Joe Fernandez of Miami 6-3, 6-4.
Stefan Edberg and Kent Carlsson, two Swedes who hold their nation's championship, the European title and the Orange Bowl championships in their respective age categories, also won.
Edberg beat Fernando Garcia of Spain 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in the boys 16-year final. Carlsson defeated Mark Koevermans of the Netherlands 6-4, 6-2 in the boys 14-year title match.
In the remaining singles finals, Andrea Betzner of West Germany defeated Suzanna Mair of Scotland 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 to take the girls 16-year title and Raviv Weidenfeld of Israel upset second seed Jim Courier 6-2, 6-2 for the boys 12-year championship.
