RUSTON, La. -- Quarterback Rick Scully and Kevin Thelan scored on short touchdown runs and K. C. Knowbloch kicked a 22-yard field goal Saturday to spark Delaware to a 17-0 victory over Louisiana Tech 17-0, leading the Blue Hens into the NCAA Division I-AA championship game against Eastern Kentucky.
In stopping Louisiana Tech in the Division I-AA semifinal game, Delaware improved to 12-1.
Eastern Kentucky topped Tennessee State 13-7 on Saturday in the other semifinal. The winners will meet next Saturday in Wichita Falls, Texas in the Pioneer Bowl.
Delaware took a 7-0 lead in the first period on a 1-yard sneak by Scully, who completed 6-of-8 passes for 101 yards in the game played on a rain-drenched field. The Blue Hens moved 27 yards for thier score after Lou Reda blocked a punt by Louisiana Tech's Brett Brewer at the Bulldog 24.
Thelan then made it 14-0 with a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter before Knowbloch kicked a 22-yard field goal.
Danny Reeder rushed for 114 yards rushing on 22 carries for Delware, ranked No. 1 in its division in rushing.
Louisiana Tech's Matt Dunigan completed 22-of-47 passes for 239 yards, but was interecepted three times and sacked three times.
