ROME -- Accused Sardinian kidnapper Giovanni Farina arrived at Rome's Fiumicino airport in police custody after a flight from Caracas, Venezuela.

Police said Farina, wanted in connection with the 1980 Italian kidnapping of the children of a West German television journalist, Monday arrived and was transferred immediately to a jail in the central Italian city of Florence.

Farina, 32, was accompanied on the flight by Interpol agents, police said. He was arrested in Bogota, Colombia, last Thursday as he was boarding a flight out of the country.

Farina said, 'Life goes on,' when he arrived in Italy.

He fled to South America two years ago and had reportedly lived in Venezuela and Colombia.
