DETROIT -- Two students were shot in a high school corridor Monday by a 15-year-old boy who was showing off a .22-caliber handgun to some of his buddies, police said.

Police said the shooting apparently was accidental, but the boy was arrested and faced felonious assault and other charges.

The wounded boys are expected to recover fully, police said.

Inspector James Robey said the boy was standing at his locker in a Cooley High School hallway and showing off the handgun to a group of boys when he turned to one and said, 'This is a stickup.'

The gun somehow went off, Robey said. The bullet ricocheted off the wall, striking one student in the right shoulder and the other in the right arm, he said.

Cooley Principal Dr. Walter Jenkins said both youths were in 'good' condition at area hospitals. He said the boy with the gun would be expelled because firearms are not permitted in school.
