MUNICH, West Germany -- British rock singer Eric Burdon was arrested and detained on drug charges Thursday, West German police said.
They said Burdon, who was arrested on a train from Munich to Salzburg, was being detained on a cocaine possession charge brought against him a year ago.

A spokesman for Burdon's rock group, currently on tour of West Germany and Austria, said efforts to secure release had proved unsuccessful. ---
