THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- The Dallas Cowboys placed three players on the injured reserve list Tuesday, reducing their active roster to the league-limit of 70 players.

Placed on injured reserve were veteran offensive lineman Norm Wells with a knee injury, sixth-round draft choice Ken Hammond, a guard, with a fractured ankle and free agent rookie fullback Mark Sanford of Virginia with a pulled groin muscle.

Four veteran players missed practice Tuesday because of injuries. Starting right guard Kurt Petersen has a shoulder injury, backup linebacker Anthony Dickerson and backup safety Dextor Clinkscale have groin injuries.
