BEAUTIES

By DAVID DUGAS, United Press International

Nearly all 77 candidates have arrived in Lima, Peru, for the 1982 Miss Universe beauty pageant, an event with mori political undercurrents than usual this year.

Late arrival Deborah Naomi Hess, Miss Israel, a 19-year-old army sergeant, said her Middle Eastern nation was dedicated to the 'incessant search for peace' but declined further comment on Israeli fighting in Lebanon. An extra set of security guards will be assigned to Miss Hess, as well as to Miss U.S.A. Terri Utley, Miss England Della Francis Dolan and Miss Argentina Alejandra Basile. The beauty title will be handed out July 26. $
