COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Amateur Basketball Association USA Tuesday announced the selection of Washington State University coach George Raveling to head the USA Select Men's basketball team that will compete in the R. William Jones Cup for Asia June 22.

The tournament, which runs through July 5, will be played in Taipei, Taiwan.

The team is scheduled to stop in Hong Kong before playing in the Seoul, South Korea, Invitational July 8-18.

Glenn Wilkes of Stetson University in DeLand, Fla., was named assistant coach of the team, and Mel Gibson of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington will serve as team manager. Picked as trainer was Bob Moore of San Diego State University.

The team begins practice at Pullman, Wash., on June 13.

Players on the USA Select Men's team are: Mark Acres, Oral Roberts University; Billy Allan, University of Nevada-Reno; Larry Anderson, UN-Las Vegas; Brett Applegate, Brigham Young University; Michael Britt, University of District of Columbia; and Tony Costner, St. Joseph's University.

Also, Jay Humphries, University of Colorado; Chris Mullin, St. John's University; Mike Reddick, Stetson; Aubrey Sherrod, Wichita State; Steve Stepanovich, University of Missouri; and Willie White, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
