WISE, Va. -- Orby Cantrell, the senior member of the Virginia House of Delegates, died today at Wise General Hosptial.
He was 75.
Cantrell's secretary, Debra Baker, said the delegate died about 2:30 a.m. today. He had been hospitalized for a heart attack suffered Tuesday.
The soft-spoken Cantrell, once mayor of Pound, served 30 years in the House and was chairman of the Roads and Internal Navigation Committee. He worked for improvements of roads in coal-rich Southwest Virginia, where he lived all his life.
Ms. Baker said funeral arrangements were incomplete.
