LONDON -- Harry H. Corbett, the British actor who starred in the TV series that was a model for 'Sanford and Son,' died of a heart attack Sunday.
He was 57.

Corbett originated the role of Harold Steptoe, the son in the television series, 'Steptoe and Son' from which the American 'Sanford and Son' series was adapted.
Corbett was an accomplished actor whose stage career included roles in everything from Shakespeare to comedy pantomime. He suffered a previous heart attack 2 years.
Corbett died in a hospital at Hastings in southern England.
