Actor Jimmy Stewart got really choked up when talking about his dead son in the course of a five-part interview to be aired this week on 'Good Morning America.' David Hartman asked him how he and his wife Gloria were affected by son Ronald's death in Vietnam at age 29.
Said Stewart, 'I don't think there's a day goes that I don't think, think of Ron. He didn't want to be drafted. He wanted to be a Marine. And I, and I encouraged it. I thought it was wonderful. He wanted to serve his country ... I don't think it's a tragedy. It's a loss... I don't know ... it's a terrible, terrible loss, but tragic, no. He died for his country.' At that point Stewart was overcome with emotion and couldn't immediately continue.
