NEW YORK -- For the first time in weeks, ABC toppled CBS from the No. 1 spot in the prime time Nielsen race, taking the count with a rating of 18.4 and an audience share of 29.
ABC won with a combination of its regular Top 10 champions and two movies -- 'Divorce Wars: A Love Story' and 'Alligator.'
CBS ran second with 18.0 and 28 and NBC was a distant third with 15.2 and 24.
The CBS 'Evening News' held its customary place at the top of evening news programing, but NBC's 'Nightly News' narrowed its second place gap. CBS polled a rating of 13.9 and a share of 23 to win over NBC, which posted 13.3 and 22. ABC's 'World News Tonight' was third at 12.5 and 21.
The top 10 programs for the week ending March 7, according to the A.C. Nielsen Co., were:
l. 60 Minutes (CBS).
2. Dallas (CBS).
3. The Jeffersons (CBS).
4. Three's Company (ABC).
5. ABC Sunday Night Movie: 'Alligator' (ABC).
6. Alice (CBS).
7. ABC Theater: 'Divorce Wars: A Love Story' (CBS).
8. Archie Bunker's Place (CBS).
9. Magnum, P.I. (CBS).
10. One Day at a Time (CBS).
