MILWAUKEE -- Outfielder Thad Bosley was traded Friday by the Milwaukee Brewers to Seattle for right-hand pitcher Mike Parrott, who came within one loss last season of setting an American League record for consecutive losses.

General Manager Harry Dalton said Parrott, 27, with a major league career record of 19-39, will be 'added insurance for a guy who didn't figure in our plans.'

He is one of six competing for two open spots on the pitching staff.

Parrott had lost 18 in a row until he beat the Brewers, 12-1, last May in Seattle. He has a career ERA of 4.88, and his best won-lost season was in 1979 when he was 14-12.

Bosley was obtained in a trade last year from the Chicago White Sox. In 42 games with the Brewers after being called up from Vancouver, he batted .229. His career mark in the majors is .267.
