CAMERINO, Italy -- Boar hunters found the bodies of Jeanette Rothschild May, ex-wife of a member of the English branch of the Rothschild banking family, and a woman friend Wednesday in the mountains of central Italy, police said.

The bodies were largely decomposed, but the women were identified by documents found with them, police said.

Mrs. May, former wife of Evelyn Rothschild, and her companion Gabriella Guerin vanished Nov. 29 when they were caught in a blizzard during a vacation in Italy.

On Jan. 14, Mrs. May's husband Stephen offered a $208,000 for information leading to the recovery alive of his wife and her companion.

Mrs. May was 41 at the time she vanished.

Police said the bodies were found by two young men hunting for wild boar in the mountains near the village of Fiastra, some 9 miles from Sarnano.

Police said they could not be certain about the cause of death, pending an autopsy. But they added it appeared the women were not victims of any crime, but simply got lost in the blizzard.

The women's purses were found beside their bodies and were apparently intact.
