FULLERTON, Calif. -- Los Angeles Rams' wide receiver Drew Hill was arrested early this morning and charged with raping a 16-year-old girl, police said.
The 25-year-old Hill, who played in Sunday's final game of the season against the Washington Redskins, was arrested at the Fullerton police station -- although police officials wouldn't say whether Hill turned himself in or was picked up elsewhere -- and was held in the city jail for six hours before a municipal judge released him on his own recognizance.
The girl he is accused of raping is from nearby Buena Park. Police detective Ron Moen says the alleged rape occurred at a private residence but would not reveal any details of the case. He would not discuss Hill's relationship with the alleged victim.
Moen said Hill did not resist arrest.
Hill, who completed his third NFL season, played in the 1979 Super Bowl in his rookie year. A four-year starter at Georgia Tech, Hill, of Newnan, Ga., led the nation in kickoff returns his senior year.
