DUBLIN, Ireland -- Irish security forces have discovered an IRA training camp in West Donegal complete with arms, ammunition and a firing range, police said Monday.

Police and Irish soldiers searched the Provisional Irish Republican Army camp and have so far uncovered 10 rifles, a shotgun, 4,000 rounds of ammunition, uniforms and IRA training manuels, police said.

They declined to give the exact location of the camp, but said it was obvious it was being used to train IRA guerrillas.

Police have made no arrests so far.

In Belfast, Northern Ireland, 12 men and two women appeared in court to face charges of murder, conspiracy to murder security forces and other terrorist-related offenses.

The 14 defendants were remanded in custody for later hearings. Two of the men were charged with murdering Julian Connolly, a member of the Ulster Defense Regiment, court officials said.

They were arrested in a weekend roundup of at least 30 suspected terrorists in the heavily Republican Ardoyne area of Belfast after an unidentified informer told police of their activities and whereabouts.

Ten more Republican militants will appear in court Tuesday to answer terrorist charges on tips from the informant who reportedly has been granted immunity from prosecution.
