MINEOLA, L.I. -- Criminal charges against New York Jets quarterback Richard Todd, accused of assaulting a New York Post sports writer, have been dropped, authorities said.
Post sports writer Steve Serby was reportedly pushed into a locker by Todd at the Jets training camp at Hofstra University in Hempstead Nov. 4.
The confrontation reportedly followed an exchange of words between Todd and Serby, who covers the Jets.
Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon said Monday an investigation by detectives discovered that the sports writer had not suffered any physical injury and he said Todd would not be prosecuted on any criminal charges.
Serby filed a complaint against Todd with Dillon's office on Nov. 5.
Serby reportedly felt ill following the alleged assault and was treated at Nassau County Medical Center for bruises of the neck and nose.
'This is a matter that does not belong in the criminal justice system. There are other remedies available to both parties,' Dillon said.
